What is 4-H?

Georgia 4-H empowers youth to learn, discover and create?to become self-directing, productive and contributing members of society.?

As the youth development program for 禁漫天堂 Cooperative Extension, 4-H educates?young people in every county across the state. The largest youth leadership organization in the state, 4-H reaches more than 242,000 people annually through county Extension offices and 4-H facilities.

Youth development rooted in social science

Across our curricula and programs, the national 4-H essential elements below are embedded into the learning experience to promote positive youth development:

  • Mastery: Youth need to feel and believe they are capable and they must experience success at solving problems and meeting challenges.
  • Generosity: Youth need to feel their lives have meaning and purpose.
  • Belonging: Youth need to know they are cared about by others and feel a sense of connection to others.
  • Independence: Youth need to know that they are able to influence people and events through decision-making and action.?

Recent 4-H News
Georgia 4-H Day at the Capitol celebrated leadership in action as more than 800 4-H’ers, staff, volunteers and legislators gathered in Atlanta on Feb. 25.
Ben Hill County 4-H team wins national contest after winning the 2023 Georgia 4-H State Cotton Boll and Consumer Judging contest.
Representatives from six Romanian universities have visited 禁漫天堂 as Romanian-American Foundation Fulbright Scholars since the program began in 2023.
Banks County 4-H alumnus Georgia Simmons has been in the center of the political action this fall with the Georgia 4-H Washington DC Intern Program working in the office of U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock.
